Peekaboo

This painting is inspired by the quiet magic of Oregon wine country and the welcoming spirit of Resolu Cellars in Hillsboro. There’s a particular feeling that settles in when you’re surrounded by barrels, candlelight, and the deep ruby glow of a good pour. A feeling that’s equal parts comfort, ritual, and reflection. I wanted to capture that atmosphere, but also the way wine invites us to slow down and see the world a little differently.

The raven became my storyteller for this piece. Positioned behind the glass, its gaze refracts through the wine, bending light and perspective in a way that feels both playful and contemplative. The candle beside it melts slowly, echoing the unhurried pace of a tasting room, where time seems to stretch and soften. The background’s layered textures mirror the complexity of Oregon wines themselves; earthy, moody, and full of depth.

This painting is a tribute to the places where community gathers, where stories are shared, and where a simple glass of wine becomes a moment of connection. It reflects the character of Hillsboro’s wine scene: intimate, artistic, and full of personality.
